Database and Data Analysis in Solar Physics

Author: Masumi Shomojo
Abstract:

The solar physics concentrates on only one astronomical object “Sun”, but peculiar treatments are necessary for analyzing solar data because time variation in seconds and fine spatial structures are very important points for investigating the Sun, different from the other astronomical objects.

In a few decades, the difficulty of analyzing solar data is rapidly increasing because the multi-wavelength data obtained mainly by the satellites are indispensable for solar data analysis. In order to reduce the difficulty, solar physicists developed the data analysis system on IDL, the virtual observatory only for the Sun and the automatic detection method for a specific structure/phenomenon. We will introduce the results of them and discuss their issues.
